Join the Hampton Roads Philharmonic as they take the stage to highlight the winner of our 10th Annual Young Artist Competition with the winner performing a movement of a concerto of their choice.  This afternoon performance brings to life selections from Edward MacDowell’s Indian Suite, steeped in 19th-century romanticism, and Steven Bryant’s Dusk, a modern meditation capturing the quiet glow of the day’s end; with the performance also featuring Florence Price’s Symphony No. 1, a landmark piece that blends the grandeur of the symphonic tradition with spiritual melodies, and dance-inspired rhythms.
