Chinese Warriors of Peking on stage!

The stage is set--the Shaolin and Wudang warriors must compete for victory in the Chinese capitol of Peking during the Ming Dynasty (1368–1644).

Shaolin (of the Henan province) and Wudang (of the Hubei province) are traditional Chinese martial arts. However, their differences come to life in this one-of-a-kind performance. Directed by Qui Jian, the Chinese Warriors of Peking will showcase diverse talent, with performers exhibiting juggling, acrobatics, weapons handling, and live stage combat. The Shaolin exhibit the "hard" Northern style of martial arts, specializing in staff-wielding. Meanwhile, the Wudang practice the "soft" Southern style of martial arts, specializing in sword-handling. All of the multidisciplinary artists practice endlessly to perfect the show on all levels, from costuming and stage movement, to culturally-accurate scenery and props.

The group recently began their 2018 U.S. tour and will be performing for nine weeks across the nation. The show is presented in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture of The People’s Republic of China. The Chinese Warriors of Peking celebrate 60 years of international acclaim, having performed throughout Great Britain, Europe, as well as with Cirque du Soleil.

Experience the culturally-enriched performance of Chinese Warriors of Peking on Friday, November 9 at 8pm at The American Theatre.
