Our Policies & Accessibility

VENUE POLICIES

The following policies apply to events held at The American Theatre.

Cameras/video/recording devices, laser pointers, and selfie sticks are NOT permitted.
Please silence all cell phones prior to entering the seating area.
No outside food or beverage is permitted.
Alcohol is served at selected events. Only those persons 21 years of age and older, with proper ID will be served. Please drink responsibly!
Smoking is prohibited at The American Theatre. “Smoking” means (1) lighting or burning any type of tobacco, including but not limited to cigarettes, cigars, cigarillos, and pipes (2) lighting or burning of non-tobacco plants, incense, spice (or spice like product), or marijuana; and (3) using electronic cigarettes.
Children 2 years of age and up must have a ticket for most events. Children under 2 without a ticket must sit on a parent’s lap (subject to change). Please refer to event page for event-specific policy.
All patrons are subject to search prior to entry.

ACCESSIBILITY

While we are always seeking to increase our efforts, below are the current accommodations we offer. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to improve your experience at The American Theatre!

Elevators & Lifts

The American Theatre does NOT have an elevator to the Balcony.
The Charles H. Taylor Visual Arts Center offers a chair lift for easy access to the upper galleries.

Accessible Seating

The American Theatre offers accessible seating options in the following rows:

A: 1 & 11, C:1 & 13. D:1 & 13.

If you have questions or need special assistance with seating, we are happy to help! Please contact our Box Office at prior to the performance. Accessible seating is subject to availability.

Assisted Listening Devices

Assisted Listening Devices (ALDs) amplify and clarify sound by cutting down or eliminating ambient noise. ALDs are available for all performances at The American Theatre, and can be reserved at the Box Office prior to each performance. We require a photo ID be held at the Box Office while assisted listening devices are in use.

Parking

Accessible parking is available in our parking lots. Accessible parking is first come, first serve. Any patron not parking in our parking lots may be granted temporary access to drop off any individuals with accessible needs near the front doors to both venues.
